The Cultural Centre, covered with salmon-covered tiles, has been a landmark on Kowloon's southern tip since 1989. With a concert hall (2100 seats) and theatre (1750 seats), a studio theatre, a gigantic foyer and the Museum of Art which was completed in 1991, it demonstrates the city's cultural ambitions. The architecture gave rise to some criticism, with some saying it resembles a ski slope. One strange feature, in any event, is that the almost windowless structure ignores the exquisite view.
